High purity germanium (HPGe) detectors
Gamma spectrometry is a very popular nuclear technique used to identify efficiently radionuclides in a sample. It is based on the precise measurement of the photon energy achievable using high purity germanium detector cooled at liquid nitrogen temperature. This nuclear technique allows the simultaneous identification and quantification of all radionuclides present in the sample.
On site, our metrology lab contains 3 such detectors that are under GMP follow-up for dedicated geometries. Data acquisition is performed using LViS from ORTEC whereas the data analysis is performed using either LViS or Fitzpeak.
